La Marina

Carol,
Would it not be better if Jeff and his band of helpers devoted time to getting the half completed cricket pitch here on the urb. completed?
This would undoubedly mean that funds raised to buy practice nets by the cricket club / Woodstock Bar at a charity day a few years ago could be used for the purpose they were intended.
The cricket interested locals could see many matches on our own pitch.
Buses would not need to be ordered by anyone.
And of course Jeff would have time to do something more useful than ordering buses to Orihuela or Torrevieja. I cannot remember anyone voting for Jeff to become a tourist bus operator.

Oh "friendlyviking" is that what it is by the park on calle san sabastian?,....i thought it was just where people went to take their dog for a sh*t (and leave it there,...the sh*t i mean, not the dog),....mmmmm yes people raised money to make a cricket pitch for the enthusiasts and then the council squander the money on turning it into a toilet,....I walk past that area every day it is usually overgrown with weeds and piles of dog crap,...there is very little upkeep performed on that area,...although the groundsmen do look after the park area well,...i just wonder if the groundsmen actualy know that the dog dump station is actually meant to be a cricket pitch when they reluctantly go round it scraping the weeds off the surface to expose more dog sh*t?

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-22 04:34:39 UTC

DRAG,
Oh dear, tell us what you really mean !!!
Have you noticed no reply from The Bus Driver (Jeff), his henchman or this lady Carol who appears to have assumed Jeff,s secretarial duties?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-22 08:12:32 UTC

Dragardian, look again at the big once sandy area where the cricket pitch was supposed to go. It is now almost fully covered in weeds as well as dog sh**. the last time the team came to work on it a few weeks ago all they did was use strimmer machines to cut off the top of the weeds! No weed killer spray this time. A lot of good that did. The weeds are all back again and spreading across the whole area.
In The Word newspaper today the councillor for the urbanisations states that "We are in the process of creating a Netball and Padel club on the urbanisation" We are constantly looking at a variety of activities for all nationalities and ages on the urbanisations"!
No mention of the proposed cricket pitch which i am told was measured and marked out over a year ago!

Commented Roger in La Marina 2013-03-22 08:38:27 UTC

I walk past the area every day roger,...that is my point! you would never guess it is a cricket pitch,...weeds and dog sh*t thats all i ever see when i walk past,...there are no cricket nets no crease, money was donated by the local people,...so where did it go,...maybe the council would like to put a comment up on here to try and explain?...but i very much doubt it ! would it be possible to get the money back off the council and let locals sort the area out? I would donate my time and labour free of charge as would so many others who want to see the area used for the intension promised by the council,...but then again,...I bet it ended up getting spent putting down the new flag stones and tarmac outside the town hall in san fulgencio,...like pretty much all monies collected from this area.

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-22 14:09:49 UTC

i have just been reading all your comments. As far as I can see Sam, out of Jeff's office, is running a coach to Torreveija to enable people to support a Cricket match between San Fulgencio & Torreveija. The said bus being paid for by the people who travel on the bus. What the hell has this got to do with the state of the cricket pitch on the urb. Surely there are worse things happening on the Urb - like people needing help because they haven't got enough food to eat - where are your priorities. All you moaners, why don't you go down and clean it yourselves if you are that concerned.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-22 15:19:57 UTC

Eve,
You are clearly not up to speed. our cricket field on our urb. has been a subject since it was built on the rubbish dump several years ago, regretably you seem to have missed it with your head stuck in rags and debris for your charity. Not that your charity is a problem, I am one of your supporters!
I am suprised to find that Sam is wasting her time organising bus trips, I thought as I believe others did, that her appointment on Jeff's personal staff was political.
As I write to you, I cannot remember either Jeff or his helpers achieving anything?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-22 16:57:20 UTC

If this has been a thorn in the side for several years then obviously Jeff inherited it. Yes, I do tend to bury my head in ,( I will not insult the people who donate to the shop by calling their clothes Rags and their bric a brac debris,) helping the dogs. When I was younger I used to get on my high horse and think I could change the world. Tried a stint on my local council - one of the worst moves of my life. Now I only get uptight about really important things and then only things I can change. As for Sam, she does a lot of things for the Urb in her own time. I have seen her on a Saturday morning with her mother and her two children sorting things out in the Office, for the needy. But I can only speak as I find. I respect you have your own point of view on these matters.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-03-22 17:21:00 UTC

Eve,...I do recall some weeks ago this cricket match being anounced by a guy on facebook who was possibly one of the main orchestrators,....he lives on this urb ! now wouldn't it be nice if the cricket field that was paid for with donations from locals and money handed over to the council finally got sorted?,...i'm all up for charties and donations,...but when you refer to "more important things",...what is more important than potentially getting ripped off by the people who won the majority vote in the election,..weather it be this group of inept asses or the last lot of inept asses? charity fund raisers are good ! and i will certainly be supporting the AECC,...but the fact of the matter is, as friendlyviking was saying,..donations were made and paid to the council for a cricket field here in la marina,...and I guess he like so many others are wondering where the money went,...other than for a flat piece of groung covered in weeds and dog sh*t

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-22 19:52:01 UTC

Eve, from what I hear you are right about one thing; this Sam does a lot of things in her own time - teaching Spanish to her private clients. Does she do any real work for the council? I remember the multi-lingual young ladies that were employed by the previous administration, one in the La Marina Ayuntamiento office and another in the main one in San Fulgencio, I believe her name was Teo and she spoke seven languages. Both these young ladies were very professional and extremely knowledgeable in Town Hall procedures. From what has been said recently on this forum it appears that both Sam and councillor Jeff spend most of their "council employed hours" doing charity work that many other people do as volunteers!

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2013-03-23 14:35:01 UTC

Sandra,
You are a breath of fresh air !
Neither Jeff, Sam or any other of Jeff's personal staff have produiced one iota of improvement for we Europeans on this urb !
Jeff has gone underground, he simply uses the very authorative Carol to promote his Tour Bus Organisation, Visits to Museems, Bus trips to Orihuela, Rock Concert organisation etc.
Sam's only interest is to make sure that her boyfriend gets involved in the musical events !
Nothing political, no new industry, no new tourism, no improvement of our environment has yet been announced by either him or his political staff ?
I suggest we could save several salaries by getting rid of the whole crowd of them!

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-23 15:55:39 UTC

Friendlyviking may i ask what exactly are you doing to improve the urb for the "europeans" on the urbanisation other than go on to forums and snipe and bitch about other people all the while hiding behind a fake name, if you would like to question what my partner does for this urbanisation, ask the poor people who she gives up her family time to help, these political rantings from yourself and sandra do nothing to encourage people to visit this urb as you paint it as dog mess infested rubbish dump run on corruption and will no matter what people say to you will constantly spout bile because it suits you to upset people for your own pleasure, please note that the poor people that sam gives up her free time to help are residents of this urbanisation and deserve to be helped in these desperate times. For you information the assistance sam give to the people is not limited to so called charity work but ask the hundreds of people who she sees every week asking for help with getting things done by the council. If you believe that she spends her working paid days doing charity work and trying to get me jobs you are sadly mistaken, all of my work is contracted outside of her office with both mine and her insistence because of the bitter bored people who would accuse her of nepotism. sams work is incredibly important to her and the people she helps. And i speak out because a few people come on these forums delight in upsetting people who really work for the good of all the residents even if they do hide thier identities.
I post under my own name as the owner of a business that is also dedicated to helping other people as the radio station i run is trying to assist businesses and charities to get thier message to larger areas.
My phone number is widely publicised and if either friendly viking or sandra wish to make thier bitterness even more widely known i could put them on air and let even more people realise just how sad these attacks are perpetrated by bitter and spiteful people with nothing better to do than bitch about hard working decent people

Reminds me of a saying from years ago.

I hate the guys who criticise the other guys, whose enterprise, has made them rise, above the guys who criticise.

^^^^^Richie^^^^^
I do not believe that "friendlyviking" is sniping and bitching!,...He just wants to see the council doing what they are supposed to be doing, as do so many other residents on the urb. The reason why there are so many people using alias's on this forum is because when we speak our mind and tell things the way they are,(as you may recall a few months ago) good old Jeff our local councilor took the hump and threatened to press charges against one such person for expressing their point of view! NOBODY wants to see this urb go down the pan,...but action has to be taken by the council to represent the folk who voted them in,..and in my humble opinion this is not happening,...I have offered my services to the council on numerous occasions free of charge to help with the tidying up of the area and promotion of events,..as I want to be involved,...but the fact of the matter is, they were not interested,...so where do i go from here? you can lead a horse to water,..but you can not make it drink! people just want to see things being done,..but it is not happening,..all political parties weather it be here in spain or back in the UK promise you the earth and once in power turn their back on the very people who they are obliged to represent,...lets just get back to grass roots here and keep things simple,...lets get the urb looking clean and tidy, get the entertainment situation sorted (keep up the good work tommy!) and people will want to come to La Marina,...hence tourism will rise bars will be busier, more money in the council coffers and conciderably less moaning on this site.

Commented dragardian in Alicante 2013-03-24 07:03:29 UTC

Richie,
For 3000 - 3500 a month I would be doing everything I could to improve this urb and dont forget that we can add mega thousands for his merry men.
Rock concerts, bus trips, museum visits and charitable work are most definitely not on any political "menu" that I am aware of?
Yes Ritchie I asgree with you the place is exactly like a rubbish dump!
Ritchie I do not ever remember me using the word CORRUPTION on any posting that I have ever posted on here. It is people like you who give honest people like me a false reputation.

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-03-24 09:44:05 UTC

If he thinks this council and particularly Jeff and his office are doing a good job than that is his opinion.
Unfortunately he does not allow us to have one?

Commented Richie in La Marina 2013-03-24 11:56:11 UTC

Friendlyviking/Dragardian,

I'm afraid your in danger of sounding repetitive. If you are two different people then you should consider starting a double act together. I think quite a lot of us get the idea that you/both dont like what Jeff is doing. As Richie might say "can you change the record now" because its getting very boring.

If you feel the cricket pitch is a disgrace, why cant the pair of you get a plastic bin liner each and pick up the rubbish yourselves? instead of moaning. Just how much is your rate bill per year? Mine is one tenth of what I pay in the UK and in the UK, our rubbish gets emptied once a fortnight (excluding Christmas holidays when its monthly).

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-03-24 12:35:35 UTC

Is it not possible to invite your councillor to an urbanisation meeting to discuss with him all of your issues and ask him what he can do to address them. Maybe give him a few dates so he cant say no. It appears that there are a lot of issues on La Marina/Quesada that dont have questions answered so this could be an ideal way of getting your points across and hearing the responses first hand. Just a thought

Commented nigelpatrick in La Mata 2013-03-24 13:47:39 UTC

Nigel,
Quesada is separate from La Marina and I'm not really aware of any issues in the area, although no doubt there will be complaints about noise in the near future.

Nigelpatrick, there are so many posts on this forum from different people over the past two years that have been in to see councillor Jeff Wisznieski about something important to them, and the overall response from them is that he is very good at telling people what they want to hear, but he does absolutely nothing!
Why do we have a dedicated councillor for the urbanisations, WITH FOUR PERSONAL ASSISTANTS, but neither one of them, or the councillor himself on his blog, can be bothered to inform and advise about the real issues affecting people on the urbanisations. I remember councill Jeff's pre- election pledge; Openess and Transparency! If this Sam is one of councillor Jeffs personal assistants, and if she really is doing a good job, as stated by Ritchie, why isn't she communicating council business and decisions to local people on the forums?

Commented Roger in La Marina 2013-03-24 17:57:09 UTC

It's just a shame that no one can organise collectively a meeting which would be far harder to ignore than individual complaints. As you say its easy to tell individuals at the time what they want to hear then do nothing but its a lot harder to hoodwink a group.

Commented nigelpatrick in La Mata 2013-03-24 19:14:44 UTC

Roger,
Thank you, everyone is skirting round the problem of total lack of communication and/or action from Jeff and his deciples. This is exactly the point I and others have been trying to make, however, others on here get their bowels in an uproar if we even ask to be informed.
Even if, as I believe Jeff and his henchmen have achieved absolutely nothing are we not entitled to be informed that this is the case?
If only the late Mike Blake was here, he worked out of a "shoe box" in the little town hall, was always available and achieved more before lunch on any day that the current invumbants have achieved since the election!
